The Village of Oakview began as a small, close-knit community in eastern Missouri, founded by families drawn to the area's rolling oak-covered hills and fertile land. Early settlers built modest homes and farms, establishing a pattern of neighborly cooperation that shaped the village's character.

Over time Oakview grew slowly but steadily, maintaining its rural charm while adding basic municipal services and community institutions. Today the village honors its roots and quiet traditions while providing local governance and services that support a safe, stable place to live.

Oakview officially became a village in 1949 when residents voted to incorporate, establishing a local government to manage community services and land use. Since incorporation, Oakview has maintained a small, close-knit character while overseeing municipal ordinances and local planning.

The Village of Oakview established its municipal court in the 1960s, reinforcing the village’s commitment to orderly, fair local governance and public safety. Since the court’s creation, it has served as a cornerstone of Oakview’s civic structure, supporting the community’s small‑town values and dedication to public service.
